Why I need the iSTEPup Foundation
It would be hard for me to achieve my dream without the help of iSTEPup. As a nursing and midwifery student, I am passionate about pursuing a career that allows me to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals especially mothers and children by providing high-quality care that would contribute to reduction in numbers of maternal and neonatal deaths in my community and country at large. However, I am facing financial challenges that can hinder my educational journey and career aspirations.
I come from a poor family and the cost of tuition, laptop, books, and other educational expenses can be over whelming. Additionally, there are practical requirements such as clinical placements, uniforms, and specialized equipments that I need to fulfill throughout my studies, which further add to the financial burden.
The Scholarship is going to greatly assist me in overcoming these challenges and pursuing my education and career plans. Firstly, it is going to provide much -needed financial support, alleviating the stress of tuition fees and educational expenses. This will allow me to focus more on my studies and clinical experiences, knowing that I have the necessary resources to succeed. Moreover, the scholarship will enable me to access additional learning opportunities that can Enhance my education and career prospects.
Furthermore, the Scholarship represents more than just financial assistance. It will provide me with a sense of validation and encouragement. Being recognized by such a prestigious organization, will boost my confidence and motivate me to excel academically and professionally. It will also connect me with a network of like-minded individuals and mentors who can provide guidance and support throughout my educational journey and beyond.
Thank you.
Buddy
Hi My name is Anne de Boer, currently global health and tropical medicine doctor and I am about to start working in Endulen hospital, Ngorongoro conservation area for the Maasai people.
I met my buddy, Chifuniro when I was working in Zomba Central Hospital, Malawi. In the wards, I noted his real attention and love for the patient and his willingness to give the best care as possible. I was inspired by his motivation to grow, to gain knowledge and to become a better nurse to reach his goal: decrease the numbers of maternal and neonatal deaths in his community and country. Due limited financial resources, it was uncertain whether he could finish his studies. He reached out to me for the IstepUp program and I am more than honored to be his buddy!
Zikomo kwambiri!
