Why do I need iSTEPup?
I am Paul Kwofie from Ghana. A gentleman schooling at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. I had only one desire: to become a doctor.
It all started a few years ago in a village called Ankyernyin. I lived with my parents for only 3 years then they both passed away. Life was not easy with living with my grandmum and with my aunty since they were mere peasant farmers. I successfully passed my basic school examinations and qualified to one of the best high schools in Ghana. I successfully emerged as the best student in the final examination and the results I obtained from my high school final exams made a way to become a doctor.
However, I could not afford the study myself, and neither could my family. I am very grateful for the support and I promise to work hard to be one of the best doctors to come.

Lilian van Uhm, project worker at Stimuland
Hello everyone,
My name is Lilian van Uhm. I am 27 years old and I am living in Arnhem (Holland). I am working as a project worker for a foundation called Stimuland. This organisation is creating a strong and vital country for the eastern part of Holland. I met Paul Kwofie during my stay in the Egyam Orphanage. I worked there as a social worker. I liked Paul from the moment that I first saw him, because he is a really hard working young man. He is very serious with his study. I stayed in the orphanage for 6 months. In this period I spend a lot of time with Paul and we became close friends. I felt sad for him, because he had one dream: becoming a doctor. But it seemed impossible for him to become a doctor, because of his background. He is not from a rich background but he is an orphan. I am really happy for him that iSTEPUp is helping him to fulfil his dream. iSTEPUp sees more in Paul than a poor orphan. They see how intelligent and ambitious he is.
